Everyone needs some safe environment to reflect on personal performance, future or career. Coaching offers this. It is designed for a specific person or organization, is rooted in real life situations, is an active form of learning and can be planned according to your own schedule.

Coaching can be defined as a learning conversation, based on a clear contract and focussed on problem solving and development. It is a skill based on specific methods, and it’s also an art, based on educated intuition.

Goal
Personal and professional development through the reflection on actual events and business cases. The aim is to optimize individual and organizational performance. Coaching can be applied on a number of levels:

  1.  to increase knowledge and learning
    • Theoretical knowledge: develop an integrated framework within your profession (what to do)
    • Procedural knowledge: routine and standard operating procedures (how to do it)
  2. to develop skills and choices
    • Decision making: understanding through analysis, ethics, self-knowledge (when to do what)
  3. to generate other ways of being
    • Insight into your own behaviour and feelings (who you are)

The level and content of the coaching sessions depend on the learning objective of each participant.

Target group
Coaching is for people who need to achieve results with or through other people. INTACT’S primary focus is on coaching managers and professionals (HR managers, consultants, trainers).

Steps
Individual coaching may consist of five bi-weekly meetings followed by five more infrequent meetings of an hour each. The participant will be given assignments to apply their learning to real life situations. Coaching can also take place within a group, for example with four or five people with similar professions or functions. Each coaching process contains the following elements:

  1. Intake interview (1 hour): The aim of the intake interview is to gaining insight into personal learning objectives and agreement about the content and planning of the sessions.
  2. Coaching sessions (8 x 1 hour) : Coaching will provide insight into interventions and options through reflection on personal and professional experiences. The aim of these sessions is support learning and to create new possibilities through specific exercises and assignments.
  3. Individual evaluation meeting (1 hour):  During the fifth and tenth coaching session the individual learning contracts will be evaluated. After a ten-session cycle next steps will be discussed.

Costs
The costs for coaching managers and professionals vary on a scale of Euro 120 to Euro 250 per 1 hour session. The exact cost depends on the nature of the organization, gross yearly income of the participant and the complexity of the problem at hand.
